Pelvic Power

Strength that feels like presence — not pressure.

Your pelvic floor is not an isolated muscle group. It is part of a living system — linked to your breath, your jaw, your feet, your nervous system, your history, and your hormones.

When life asks you to hold everything together, your body listens. It tightens. It braces. It protects. These patterns are intelligent — and over time, they can start to feel like restriction.

Pelvic Power is not about fixing a weak pelvic floor. It is about restoring the relationship between your body, your breath, and your nervous system — so strength feels like safety, not effort.

Why this works.

The science behind the approach — and why kegels alone are not the answer.

The body does not change through pressure. It changes through safety. Give the nervous system a new experience — and the tissue follows.

The pelvic floor cannot be understood in isolation. Decades of pelvic health research — and the lived experience of thousands of women — confirm what functional movement science has long held: the pelvis is a system, not a muscle group.

It communicates constantly with the diaphragm, the deep core, the hip complex, the jaw, the feet, and the autonomic nervous system. When one part of that system is under chronic stress, the whole system adapts. It braces. It compensates. It protects.

This is why the kegel-only approach fails so many women. Strengthening an isolated muscle in a body that is already bracing against perceived threat does not resolve the underlying pattern — it deepens it.

Research published in peer-reviewed journals consistently supports pelvic floor muscle training (PFMT) as a first-line intervention for urinary incontinence, postpartum recovery, pelvic organ support, and sexual health. Studies show improvements in muscle strength, genital blood flow, body awareness, and reductions in pain and anxiety — benefits that extend across postpartum, perimenopausal, and general women's health populations.

The Tensegrity Model

The Tensegrity Model

The Tensegrity Model

The body is a tensegrity structure — a system of tension and compression that works as a whole. The pelvic floor's function is directly influenced by the tension patterns in the rest of the body. Releasing a held jaw, grounding through the tripod of the foot, or softening the ribcage can change pelvic floor tone more efficiently than any isolated contraction.

Nervous System First

The Tensegrity Model

The Tensegrity Model

Polyvagal theory and pain neuroscience both confirm that tissue response is modulated by the nervous system's perception of safety. A body in chronic sympathetic activation — even mild, low-grade stress — holds increased pelvic floor tone as a default protective posture. Regulation is not a warm-up. It is the work.

Breath as Architecture

Seasonal Hormonal Intelligence

Seasonal Hormonal Intelligence

The diaphragm and pelvic floor move in coordinated opposition on every breath cycle. When breath is held, shallowed, or reversed — common patterns in chronically stressed bodies — pelvic floor coordination is directly disrupted. Learning to breathe properly is not optional in pelvic work. It is foundational.

Seasonal Hormonal Intelligence

Seasonal Hormonal Intelligence

Seasonal Hormonal Intelligence

Estrogen, progesterone, and relaxin directly influence connective tissue laxity, pelvic floor tone, and pain sensitivity across the menstrual cycle, perimenopause, postpartum recovery, and aging. Erin's approach is cycle-informed and hormone-aware — programming shifts with the body's seasonal intelligence, not against it.

Led by Erin Tomaso

Erin is a movement coach, embodiment practitioner, and the creator of the Feminine Fire Method. Her approach to pelvic health blends functional movement science, yoga, nervous system regulation, and cycle-aware programming into one integrated practice.

She has spent years working with women whose pelvic floor symptoms — pain, leakage, prolapse, disconnection, tightness — were not resolved by conventional approaches. Her work starts where those approaches end: in the nervous system, in the breath, and in the full-body conversation that the pelvis is always having.

You might be here if...

• Your body feels tense even when you're "relaxing"

• Pelvic floor tension shows up as low back pain, hip tightness, or jaw clenching

• You've been told to do kegels — and they haven't helped

• You've pushed through discomfort and it hasn't landed in your body

• You're postpartum and want to rebuild trust with your body — not just your core

• You're in perimenopause or menopause and noticing changes in pelvic health

• You want strength that feels safe, rooted, and sustainable

• You're a yoga teacher who wants to bring pelvic health science into your classes (CEU track)

This is not about fixing a weak pelvic floor. It's about restoring a relationship. You don't gain something new — you recognize something that was already there.

What shifts — and how.

Women often tell us something subtle shifts first. Not dramatic. Not flashy.

The hips stop bracing before you even notice. The jaw softens without being told. Your breath drops lower — and stays. Movement starts to feel connected instead of managed. Strength feels steady instead of effortful. Your pelvis feels like part of you again — not a problem to solve.

There is more space. More coordination. More trust.

People often don't notice the shift right away. But the body does.

Common Questions

 Q: I’m not very flexible - can I come?
A: Absolutely. Every offering is accessible and adaptable. Flexibility is not a prerequisite for this work — presence is.

Q: I already work out regularly — is this different?
A: Yes — significantly. Pelvic Power focuses on coordination, integration, nervous system regulation, and pelvic floor mechanics — not reps, load, or output. Many women who train regularly find that this work fills a gap nothing else has addressed.

Q:  What is the difference between the group class and a private session?
A:  The group Pelvic Power Hour is a full class in a shared setting — accessible, consistent, and community-held. A private session with Erin is fully individualized. She assesses your specific patterns, designs programming for your body, and coaches you directly. If you have specific symptoms or want faster, more personalized results, a private session is the right starting point.

Q: I have a specific pelvic floor diagnosis — is this appropriate for me?
A: Pelvic Power is designed to be accessible for a wide range of pelvic floor presentations. That said, if you have a specific diagnosis — prolapse, interstitial cystitis, vaginismus, postpartum complications, or anything that has been assessed by a provider — we always recommend working in conjunction with your pelvic floor physical therapist and your physician.

Our approach is collaborative by design. Between your doctor, your PT, and Erin, we work together to make sure what you are doing in the movement space is appropriate, well-sequenced, and fully supported by your broader care team. No one practitioner has the whole picture — and we would never want to work in isolation from the people who do.

If you are unsure whether Pelvic Power is the right fit for where you are right now, reach out before you register. We will be honest with you — and if a private session with Erin makes more sense as a starting point than a group class, we will say so.
